FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
OCTOBER 15, 2015 MINNEAPOLIS, MN – Minneapolis City Councilmember Alondra Cano has endorsed Ilhan Omar for the DFL nomination for Minnesota House District 60B.
Councilmember Cano said of Omar, “I’m proud to support Ilhan Omar for Minnesota House District 60B. Ilhan is an unwavering advocate for women's empowerment and new Americans. Her work builds the cultural relevance our communities need to ensure everyone can participate in our democracy. As Minnesota's demographics change, I believe Ilhan is the experienced leader we need who has the skills to shape this future into a community of opportunity for all."
Ilhan Omar responded, “I’m humbled and honored to have earned the endorsement of Councilmember Alondra Cano. Alondra’s election to public office came after years of fighting for immigrant rights, access to education, and environmental justice. That’s a path I will follow. I believe the best public servants are those who are grounded in the struggle for equity and social justice. That grounding keeps us connected to our communities and reminds us that elected office is about serving the people."
